Bois de Lance

Bois de Lance is a small, rural farming village situated 15 miles outside of Cap Haitien, nestled amidst Haiti's beautiful mountains.  The village of 20,000 was steeped in voodoo and witchcraft when Pastor Wiljean Compere arrived.

After the pastor of the local baptist church had died, the church building sat empty for 7 years, being taken over by the local market and the voodoo priests.  When Wiljean inquired about the former church, he was given permission by the family to use the building to begin a new evangelical work in the village, and Open Door was born.  That was 1993.

The vision was clear.  Revelation 3:8 says, "I will open a door before you that no man can shut."  God was going to build His church.  And that He has!  Open Door not only provides a consistent witness through their vibrant worship services and discipleship ministries for all ages, they are also a tangible witness in the impoverished community of the love and power of Christ through their christian school, feeding center, medical clinic, agriculture programs, micro-enterprise, literacy and computer training and orphan care.
