Cap Haitian

Cap Haitien is a city rich with history and culture.  The former capital of the country, Cap Haitien is Haiti's second largest city, with a population estimated near 250,000.

While God called Pastor Wiljean Compere to plant Open Door Church in the rural village of Bois de Lance, after marrying, Wiljean and his wife settled in Cap Haitien, living first in a home given to them by a friend, and then moving into his in-laws home after they migrated to the US.

As Open Door In Bois de Lance began to have more and more young people from the village moving into the city for school or employment opportunities, Pastor Wiljean felt led by God to begin a second church in Cap Haitien to meet the growing needs of the city.  What began as a small group of family and friends  meeting together in 2004 quickly grew into a vibrant congregation.  They used the home that had been given to Pastor Wiljean and his wife by a friend, knocking out one wall and then another as the church continued to grow.  Open Door Cap Haitien now has almost 500 attending the two services in their 25x40 facility, with overflow spilling out onto the street.

Open Door Cap Haitien has a vision to purchase and renovate an abandoned theatre just two blocks from their current location, which would become a community center with a capacity to hold 1000 for services.
