Open Door Children's Home
Sponsoring an orphan is easier than you think. For only $50 per month -- about the cost of dinner out with your family at Chili's -- you can make a significant impact in the life of one of the orphans at Open Door Children's Home. Sponsorship is as easy as 1-2-3.
1. Choose your Sponsor Child. If you haven't already picked up an Orphan Sponsorship Packet from your church, school or organization, you can select a child pictured below, writing their name in the Sponsor Orphan field on your online registration. We need two sponsors to cover the needs of each orphan, so your child's picture will remain on the website until they have received a second sponsor. At that time, their picture will be removed from the website and replaced with the picture of another child.
2. Complete your Online Sponsorship Registration. Once we have your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and Sponsor Orphan's name, we will mail you their Orphan Sponsorship Packet. This packet includes a framed picture of your child, their birth date and family background, directions on how to begin giving and how you can communicate with your child. 3. Choose your Preferred Giving Method. You can begin sponsoring your child right away through our easy online PAYPAL option, which sets up a recurring sponsorship subscription for you. We also have ACH Authorization Forms, which allow ODH to set up a recurring sponsorship payment with your bank. Included in your Orphan Sponsorship Packet is a giving envelope if you prefer to give by check.

What does my $50 a month go toward?
Your $50 monthly sponsorship contribution helps pay for your child's housing, meals, recreation and care from our loving, professional Children's Home staff. It also gives them access to Open Door Medical Clinic for annual medical and dental check-ups and any related medical care that they require.
If I miss a monthly contribution, will my sponsored orphan still be cared for?
We raise emergency funds for the ministry above and beyond our school and orphan sponsorship programs to meet the occasional sponsorship shortfalls that may occur. We will not allow these shortfalls to jeopardize the care that the children are receiving.
If you miss a monthly commitment, please do fulfill your sponsorship obligation as soon as possible, since we base our budget on these pledges.
Does Open Door have other ministries besides the Children's Home?
Yes. Open Door has a diverse array of ministries in Haiti that spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our quarterly newsletter will keep you informed and up to date on what God is doing through the ministry.
What if I am no longer able to continue with my orphan sponsorship commitment?
Please notify us as soon as possible so that we are able to find another sponsor who can meet the needs of your sponsor child.
How is Open Door able to operate for so much less than other sponsorship programs?
At this point, additional funding is coming in from other sources to supplement the ministry at Open Door. While all children at Open Door Children's Home have access to medical care through Open Door Clinic, the clinic’s funding is not included in your $50 per month contribution. Your sponsor orphan's educational costs are covered under our School & Feeding Center's separate Child Sponsorship Program, which is $25 a month. Support is raised separately to cover staff salaries and expenses of Open Door Haiti in the US. All of these efforts significantly defray the cost of our orphan sponsorship program.
