School

Open Door School is experiencing its most exciting year to date with record enrollment, an expanded school lunch program that will feed the kids 365 days a year, a new computer center, and expanded vocational training. The 2009-2010 school year is one of great promise!

Open Door School began in 1994. A new five room school building was constructed for Open Door in 2004 by Living Hope Mission. In 2007, a Feeding Center was constructed to begin providing a nutritious meal each day for every child in the school.  In 2008, a second floor was added to the school building, doubling our enrollment capacity.  And in 2009, Open Door School expanded its services to include a new Primary School in the city of Hinche.  Enrollment has steadily grown each year, with over 450 pre-k through grade 6 students enrolled for the 2009-2010 school year.

You may partner with us in supporting our students for Open Door’s education and feeding program for only $25 a month.

Open Door Trade School was launched in January 2007, offering classes in sewing, agriculture, computer and an adult literacy program.

Plans are underway to expand Open Door School in Hinche in the fall of 2010, and eventually, to build a Secondary School for grades 7-12.
